Transferring frozen Russian assets to Ukraine to greatly weaken Putin – Zelenskyy

1 min read

The transfer of billions of frozen Russian assets by partners to Ukraine will greatly weaken Putin, since for him money is number one and he is trying to ensure their safety, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

"Statements about their [Russian] political isolation in the world, about sanctions against them. Do you know what all this is about? About making Putin poor. For him, money is number one. If you hear his messages, that's all around money. And he ensures the safety of this money, even frozen assets abroad," Zelenskyy said at a press conference on Sunday.

Therefore, the President of Ukraine said: "I believe that this is his weak point."

"If everyone takes the frozen assets today and transfers this money to Ukraine, I think this will greatly weaken him... Then he will call everyone. Not just me, call everyone. And look for how to end this war," Zelenskyy said.

He also said "Putin cannot protect the business that is around him: big business, oligarchs, etc. he is not able to protect."
