Zelenskyy meets with Belgium’s King, PM in Davos

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has held a meeting with King Philippe I of Belgium and Prime Minister Alexander De Croo in Davos, the press service of the head of the Ukrainian state reported.

"In Davos, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with His Majesty King Philippe I of Belgium and Prime Minister Alexander De Croo. The interlocutors discussed the priorities of Belgium's presidency of the Council of the European Union, primarily in the context of Ukraine's approach to the actual start of the negotiation process on EU accession," the presidential press service said on its official website on Tuesday.

The President reportedly thanked His Majesty King Philippe I and Alexander De Croo "for the significant defense support of our state from Belgium. Zelenskyy noted Belgium's decision to provide Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets, training of Ukrainian pilots by Belgian specialists, as well as the recent 15th package of defense assistance."

Zelenskyy "highly appreciated Belgium's leadership role in creating a Fund to support Ukraine in the amount of EUR 1.7 billion, which will be filled from taxation of income from frozen Russian assets." The President reportedly stressed the importance of creating an effective mechanism for the confiscation of the aggressor's frozen assets.

The parties also discussed Belgium's participation in the implementation of the provisions of the Ukrainian Peace Formula.
