Zelenskyy: Ukraine, Italy agree to work on bilateral security guarantees

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone conversation with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Wednesday.

"We coordinated our joint efforts and agreed to start work on bilateral security guarantees in development of the corresponding G7 Vilnius Declaration," Zelensky said in his Telegram channel.

The interlocutors also discussed defense cooperation and the need to accelerate the adoption of the 12th package of European Union sanctions against Russia.

In a conversation with the Italian Prime Minister, the President of Ukraine expressed gratitude for her personal efforts and Italy's strong steps in support of Ukraine.

"Italy is showing strong leadership and I look forward to the Italian G7 Presidency in 2024 achieving important new milestones," he said.

In addition, the head of state thanked Italy for supporting the Peace Formula and invited Prime Minister Meloni to take part in the second Grain From Ukraine summit.
