Army stops invaders in many directions, plan to seize Ukraine fails – Zelensky
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that the Ukrainian army stopped the Russian invaders in many directions.
"Thanks to the courage and training of the Ukrainian armed forces, the occupying troops were stopped in almost all directions. Difficult battles in Kharkiv region – especially heavy near Izium. Russian troops even threw people from training centers there. A completely unprepared contingent. People who could not stand even half an hour in battle," the President said in his address on Saturday night.
According to the president, the army stopped the occupying troops in Kyiv, Sumy and Chernihiv regions, as well as in southern Ukraine.
"Kyiv region, Sumy region, Chernihiv region, in the south of our state – the army stopped the invaders. The initial plan of the Russian military to seize our state failed. And it is felt that they do not know what can be done with us. It seems that their military commanders are not able to offer their political leadership anything but cruel and misguided tactics to deplete us, deplete Ukraine," Zelensky said.
The President noted that "this tactic of their [Russian] military only aggravates the situation for the Russian state. It leads to more and more destructive sanctions. It encourages new members to join our anti-war coalition. It allows for uniting even such states that have always tried to remain neutral to put pressure on Russia."
