Third round of talks between Ukraine and Russia may take place tomorrow or day after tomorrow – Podoliak

The third round of talks between Ukraine and Russia may take place tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, Mykhailo Podoliak, adviser to the head of the President's Office, has said.

"The third round [of negotiations with the Russian Federation] may be tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. We are waiting for it. We are in constant contact with them. When it becomes clear that we [and they] are ready to go further and talk about a ceasefire, we have option: we are going literally right now," Podoliak said at a joint press conference with Head of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction David Arakhamia devoted to Russia's war against Ukraine at the Lviv Regional State Administration.

Answering a question why the talks are taking place in Belarus, he said the reason is Russia's refusal to negotiate in other mediating countries.

"Perhaps later there will be another country, as we wanted to take the option of Turkey or Poland. Unfortunately, Belarus is being used infrastructurally as a springboard for attacks on our cities," he said.

According to Podoliak, a working group has now been created and is functioning, which includes representatives of Ukraine, Russia and the Red Cross International Humanitarian Mission to create humanitarian corridors for evacuating people from hot spots.

"We are now discussing how to evacuate people logistically, bring food, medicines, and others. I think that today, during the day, we will already have a clear understanding of, for example, Mariupol, Volnovakha, which corridor will be there," he said.
