U.S. to seek Russia's consent to deploy 20,000 peacekeepers in Donbas
The U.S. intends to discuss with Russia the possibility of deploying 20,000 peacekeepers in the east of Ukraine, the Wall Street Journal reported citing American and Western authorities.
The U.S. will seek approval from Russia to deploy peacekeepers in Ukraine's east, the newspaper wrote.
It is expected the U.S. will raise the proposal with Russian officials to deploy peacekeepers in the coming days, the newspaper said.
According to the report, the U.S. and some Western countries, including France and Germany, hope that "Russian President Vladimir Putin is looking for a way out of Moscow's military support to Ukrainian separatists."
