Adviser to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podoliak has said the very fact of discussing by European partners of a possibility of sending western troops to Ukraine to deter Russian aggression is a good signal.
"Any initiative is always additional opportunities. And this is a clear indication by Mr. [President of France Emmanuel] Macron of an absolute understanding of what stage of the war we are at and what risks this stage carries," he said in a commentary to Interfax-Ukraine on Tuesday.
The very fact of such a discussion among the partners is important, Podoliak said.
"It is clear that today Ukraine is waiting, first of all, for the resolution of issues on which there are direct agreements – this is the acceleration and increase in the supply of military equipment and high-tech solutions. Drones, projectiles, long-range missiles, aircraft components," he said.
"But let me clarify once again that the extension of the list of topics under discussion, particularly by the discussion of a possibility of sending limited contingents to Ukraine for various missions, is a good signal," Podoliak said.
