Yermak: Ukraine needs support, since size of Russian group is three times larger than at beginning of invasion

Head of the President's Office of Ukraine Andriy Yermak met in Washington with U.S. Presidential National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, Secretary of the National Security Council, National Security Adviser to the British Prime Minister Timothy Barrow, German Chancellery Foreign and Security Policy Advisor Jens Ploetner and French President's Diplomatic Counselor Emmanuel Bonne, the press service of the President's Office said.

During the meeting, the situation on the battlefield has been discussed. As Yermak noted, the Ukrainian army has already recaptured about 50% of the previously occupied territories, but today the number of the Russian group in Ukraine is three times greater than at the beginning of the aggression, so our country needs to maintain international support.

In addition, the meeting discussed the protection of the grain corridor in the Black Sea. Despite numerous Russian air attacks on Ukrainian port infrastructure, the corridor continues to operate thanks to interaction with Ukraine's partners, primarily from the Black Sea region.

"Dozens of ships have already passed along this route, which has helped reduce threats to food security in the world. However, to protect and ensure the operation of the grain corridor, we need additional air defense systems," he said.

The interlocutors also continued the dialogue on concluding bilateral agreements on security guarantees within the framework of the Joint Declaration on Support for Ukraine, adopted by the G7 countries in Vilnius.

"It was noted that the work carried out in this context will contribute to the transition of our state's defense forces to NATO standards and Western weapons," according to the statement.

Advisors to the leaders of the United States, Great Britain, Germany and France assured that they would support Ukraine as long as necessary to achieve a just world.
