Grain exports by rail in first 15 days of Oct hit record high since May 2022 – analysts

Over the 15 days of October, Ukraine exported about 597,000 tonnes of wheat, which is 6% less than in the first half of September, but 9% higher than this figure for the first half of August, the APK-Inform information and analytical agency reported.
According to the report, Spain became the main importer of Ukrainian wheat in October 2023: more than 44% of all shipments were supplied to it. In addition, significant volumes of grain were shipped to Egypt (12% of total exports) and Vietnam (10%).
Analysts also noted an increase in deliveries by rail. During this period, the share of wheat supplies by this type of transport amounted to 22% of the country's total exports, compared to 17% in the first half of September and 10% in the first half of August.
Thus, the relative indicator of export deliveries of grain products by rail reached its maximum since May 2022.
In general, APK-Inform predicts that by the end of 2023/24 MY, Ukraine can export about 13 million tonnes of wheat, which is 23% lower than the previous season.
