Russian journalist Baulina, who died in Kyiv, opposed to Russian authorities

Russian journalist Oksana Baulina, who died as a result of shelling in Kyiv, was in opposition to Russian authorities, she worked in Ukraine on legal grounds, adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Anton Gerashchenko said.

"Oksana Baulina was a journalist in opposition to the Russian authorities. She came to Ukraine to document all the crimes of Russia. Yesterday in Kyiv she worked on the territory of a shopping center shelled by Russia. She became an accidental victim of the occupiers," Gerashchenko was quoted as saying at a briefing in Kyiv by Ukraine Media Center in the telegram channel.

According to the adviser to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the journalist stayed legally on the territory of Ukraine. "The body of the deceased journalist will be transferred to Latvia, where her parents live," Gerashchenko said.

He said that a Ukrainian citizen was killed along with the journalist, and another one was injured. The police have already opened criminal proceedings on the fact of the murder of two people under article 155 of the Criminal Code - premeditated murder.
