Govt settles issue of exchange of Ukrainian passport books for ID cards

Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers has settled the issue of exchanging Ukrainian passports issued since 1994 (in the form of books) for ID cards.

According to an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent, the respective decision was made at a government meeting on Wednesday, October 3.

In particular, the Cabinet of Ministers determined that all Ukrainian citizens can optionally swap their passports in the form of books for ID cards.

In addition, if a person who has reached the age of 25 or 45 years did not apply in the prescribed manner within a month for a photo to be glued into a passport book, such a passport should be exchanged for an ID card.

The document also settles the mechanism of invalidation and destruction of civilian passports issued since 1994.
