Russia will interfere in Ukraine's elections during 2019

Russia will resort to attempts to internal destabilization in Ukraine and influence on the results of the presidential and parliamentary elections in 2019, Secretary of Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Oleksandr Turchynov has said.

"One of Russia's priorities is to destabilize Ukraine. They will certainly try to influence the results of the presidential and parliamentary elections, but we do not exclude the aggressive actions and hostilities against our country when they see that other forms do not give results," Turchynov said in Kyiv on Tuesday.

Turchynov said Ukraine is monitoring movements of Russian troops along the Ukrainian border.

"Troop formations are concentrated both to the east and to the south of our country. This shows Russia does not remove from the agenda precisely the aggressive military form of pressure on Ukraine," he said.

"Another questions is when this could be used, when they could start a large-scale provocation," Turchynov said.

Presidential and parliamentary elections will take place in Ukraine during 2019.
