Ukraine ready to help Greece fight forest fires

Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman has sent a letter to Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras offering assistance in the fight against forest fires that led to numerous casualties.

"The Government of Ukraine is ready to provide all the necessary assistance to Greece. The corresponding letter has already been sent to Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras," Groysman wrote on Twitter on Tuesday.

He also offered his condolences to the people of Greece due to the tragic consequences of forest fires.

Wildfire in Greece killed at least 60 people and injured about 150. According to the authorities, the village of Mati is the hardest hit by the blaze as the bodies of 26 adults and children were found here.

Hundreds of firefighters are involved in tacking wildfires around the Greek capital. In addition, many local residents had to leave their homes.

The country declared a three-day mourning for the victims of fires.
