Another Kremlin critic assassinated abroad - U.S. Embassy in Kyiv about Babchenko's murder
The U.S. Embassy in Kyiv says a full and impartial investigation in the assassination of Russian journalist Arkady Babchenko in Kyiv is needed.
"Another Kremlin critic is assassinated abroad, once again in Ukraine. We offer our deepest condolences to Arkady Babchenko's family and colleagues, and we join the government of Ukraine in support of a full and impartial investigation that will bring those responsible to justice," the Embassy wrote on Twitter on Wednesday, May 30.
As reported, a Russian citizen, ATR television channel host Arkady Babchenko, was shot dead when entering his apartment in Kyiv's Dniprovsky district late on May 29.
A criminal case on charges of a premeditated murder (Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) was opened.
Kyiv police chief Andriy Kryschenko said that professional activity is the first most likely motive for Babchenko's murder.
The police also made a composite portrait of Babchenko's murderer.
