Data from Netherlands probe underscores Russia's direct responsibility for MH17 disaster

Special Representative of the U.S. State Department for Ukraine Negotiations Kurt Volker says that the new information in the investigation of the crash of Malaysia's MH17 flight over Donbas, eastern Ukraine, proves Russia's direct responsibility for the plane crash.

The Netherlands has clearly established the facts pertaining to the case, including Russia's direct responsibility, and the unit whose rocket launcher was brought in, used and returned back, he said.

According to him, it is very important, because he believes that what the Dutch investigation has revealed again emphasizes the lack of ambiguity implying that this is Russia's direct responsibility, Volker said during a telephone briefing in Brussels on Thursday.

He noted that such a situation requires Russia to change the approach in favor of peace in Donbas.
