Kyiv urges Moscow to sign schedule of Minsk accords implementation – Ukrainian Foreign Ministry

Ukraine has asked the Russian Federation to sign the schedule of the implementation of the Minsk agreements, as well as to observe the ceasefire starting from January 19, the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine said.

"On November 13, 2014, representatives of Ukraine and Russia signed a working document providing a clear timetable for the implementation of the provisions of the Minsk memorandum, in particular, in the part of ensuring the bilateral ceasefire, the withdrawal of heavy weapons and the return to the line of demarcation," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement published on its website on Sunday night.

"Russia has withdrawn its signature from this document. Today, Ukraine has once again appealed to the Russian Federation with a proposal to sign a schedule of the implementation of the Minsk agreements in the same wording as they were signed on November 13 and ensure a ceasefire starting from January 19," the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry added.

The diplomat recalled that Ukraine fully complies with Minsk agreement and has been waiting for four months for their fulfillment by Russia and militants.

"We are convinced that this will make possible to immediately cease fire and to protect the civilian population of the area from the shelling by militants which they have been doing for the past four months. The start of the strict implementation of this document will create the necessary preconditions for holding the consultations of the tripartite contact group, a meeting of the ministers of foreign affairs of Ukraine, France, Germany and Russia soon, and in the future the summit of heads of state and government in Astana. We demand that, after all this plan should be carried out," the document says.

The Foreign Ministry also reported that Ukraine is ready to participate in the consultations of the tripartite contact group with the signatories of the Minsk agreements at any time, which was clearly demonstrated during a Skype conference December 19, 2014 and January 9, 2015, and the latest meeting of the contact group in Minsk on December 24, 2014.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry recalled that the Russian president had repeatedly reaffirmed Moscow's commitment to the implementation of the Minsk agreements in full and without exception. This position was announced many times, including during the multilateral summit in Milan.

"In the past two months militants continuously have been storming Donetsk Airport, where Ukrainian cyborgs (the term used by the public for defenders of the airport) are staying all the time. Therefore, please leave the stories about taking over the airport for domestic propaganda," the Foreign Ministry said.

"Ukraine strictly adheres to all clauses of the Minsk agreements and demands Russia do the same," the ministry said.
