Poroshenko to meet with legitimate Donbas activists in Kyiv on Thursday – MP Heraschenko
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko is to meet with representatives of local authorities, political circles and businesses from Luhansk and Donetsk regions in Kyiv on Thursday, said MP Iryna Heraschenko, who is the president's envoy in charge of settling the situation in Donbas region.
"On Thursday, June 19, a meeting will take place in Kyiv with representatives from these eastern regions, with the elected, legitimate city mayors, with representatives of the economic and political spheres, to establish such a dialogue," Heraschenko told Interfax-Ukraine on Wednesday.
At the same time, she said: "The president has already announced his peace plan to settle the situation in the east, and repeatedly stated that he is ready for a dialogue with the east. But we are talking primarily about those elites which hold authority in east Ukraine and together with the president are ready to assume responsibility for resolving this situation and offer help in order to work together to establish peace and quiet in Luhansk and Donetsk regions."
