Safiullin: Construction of new facilities at Olympic training base in Koncha Zaspa to cost UAH 410 m

Head of the State Service for Youth and Sports of Ukraine Ravil Safiullin has said that the construction of new sports facilities at the Olympic training base in Koncha Zaspa near Kyiv will cost UAH 410 million.

"First and foremost, there needs to be a swimming pool, an athletics stadium and a multipurpose facility, with halls for wrestling, gymnastics, boxing, weight-lifting, etc," he told reporters in Kyiv on Friday.

Safiullin said that ahead of the 2012 Olympic Games in London, Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov chaired a meeting of the committee on Ukraine's preparations for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, world and European championships, which was held at the base.

"The construction of these facilities was estimated at about UAH 410 million, which was fully approved by [Premier] Mykola Azarov and members of the organizing committee," he said.

Safiullin said that the base with an area of seven hectares was insufficient for the realization of plans.

"Therefore, it was decided to ask the city authorities to allocate about five hectares of land on the right of the entrance to the base," he said.

He said that in late October and early November, his agency finally received the certificate for a 22-hectare land plot in the village of Horenychi. The service also managed to return through the prosecutor's office 11 hectares of land on the territory of the ice stadium, which covered an area of about 17 hectares near the exhibition center.
