Yermak-McFaul group supports Trump's desire to lower oil prices

Yermak-McFaul sanctions group supports U.S. President Donald Trump's desire to lower oil prices, since then Russia will not be able to finance the war, Head of the President's Office of Ukraine Andriy Yermak said.

"Our sanctions group proposes to fix the price at $30. We fully support U.S. President Donald Trump in his desire to lower oil prices. As this will result in a collapse of Russia's ability to finance the war," Yermak said in Telegram channel on Thursday.

He said "a hard price cap [fixed price] and a further reduction in the price of a barrel of Russian oil is the path to global security." U.S. President Trump reportedly said he would seek to lower the price of oil, expressing confidence that it would stop Russia's war against Ukraine.

"I'm also going to ask Saudi Arabia and OPEC to lower the price of oil. You have to lower it, and frankly, I'm surprised they haven't done that... If the price had gone down, the war between Russia and Ukraine would have ended immediately. The price is high enough now that this war continues. You have to lower the price of oil," he said during a special address at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Thursday.
