Umerov: We're doing everything possible and impossible to ensure breakthrough; 2024 plan already exists
Defense Minister of Ukraine Rustem Umerov said Ukraine has already prepared a "powerful" plan for 2024, which will produce results.
"We are doing everything possible and impossible to make a breakthrough. Plan 2024 already exists. We do not talk about it publicly. It is powerful, it is strong, it gives not only hope, but will also give results in 2024. We are working with all components of the Security Forces and defense. I am grateful to each and every one," Umerov said at the Ukraine. Year 2024 conference, which takes place on Sunday.
The minister said the Russian war against Ukraine today is the greatest war since the Second World War.
"We have a front line with a length of 3,200 kilometers, we have intense combat operations on a front line with a length of 1,200 kilometers," Umerov said.
The minister also spoke about "an important track about which everyone hears but knows no detail – the fortifications." The construction of the fortifications is coordinated by a joint group with other ministries, he said.
"The State Special Transport Service and the Command of the Support Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are engaged in this. We have equipped more than several thousands of strongholds and – I cannot voice the numbers – fire positions," Umerov said.
He also emphasized that "it is in Ukraine that the path from a design bureau to combat use on the battlefield is the shortest on the world, and we are working to make it even shorter."
Russia has launched more than 8,000 missiles against Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Umerov said, recalling that "it is the war during which Kinzhal missiles were shot down for the first time" and it is also the first war of drones.
"Today, Ukraine is the only country which not only has unprecedented experience of using the world's weapons on the battlefield. Ukraine in the only country which possesses unique knowledge of the specific of war against the Russian army. We understand their tactics, strategies, we know their strong and weak sides. We gain experience on the battlefield, analyze it and develop recommendations for manufacturers," the minister said.
