The U.S. Congress should not hesitate to approve additional funds to help Ukraine; depriving Kyiv of support would have historical consequences, U.S. President Joe Biden said on Friday.

“We had to provide the funding so Ukraine can keep defending itself. (...) The clock is ticking,” Biden said, speaking at the White House.

He warned that "the failure to support Ukraine at this critical moment will never be forgotten." "It's going to go down on the pages of history. It really is. It's consequential," he said.

The day before, The Hill said the U.S. Democratic congressmen are trying to find alternative ways to approve the White House's request for additional funds to help Ukraine in the House of Representatives. At the same time, the House of Representatives goes on recess until February 28, without holding a vote on this issue.

The Hill said Democrats are considering a way to do this by bypassing Speaker of the House of Representatives, Republican Mike Johnson. Earlier, Johnson warned that he was ready to consider a request for Ukraine only at the same time as taking measures to protect the southern U.S. border from the flow of illegal immigrants.
