Shmyhal: We invite our African partners to work on finding as many common points as possible

Ukraine will strengthen cooperation with African countries, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said at a meeting with African journalists held in Kyiv on November 15.

"Today we invite our African partners to work to find as many common points as possible. We feel the readiness of African countries to cooperate more actively with Ukraine," the press service of the Ukrainian government said, citing the Prime Minister.

Shmyhal, in particular, is convinced that Ukraine is of interest to African states as a powerful educational hub. He also said Ukrainian IT companies are already operating in some African countries. According to him, our state seeks to extend cooperation to public-private partnerships.

During the meeting, the participants touched upon current important issues, including the accession of African countries to the implementation of the Peace Formula of the President of Ukraine.

Shmyhal noted the points of the Peace Formula are global in nature and influence, and its key element is food security. Separately, the parties touched upon the work of the alternative Black Sea grain corridor.

"Despite the blockade of the Black Sea ports, Ukraine retains its status as one of the guarantors of global food security. The lives of about 400 million people in different countries of the world, including on the African continent, depend on the export of our food," Shmyhal said.

The Prime Minister also said the humanitarian initiative of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Grain from Ukraine, is currently in effect. As part of this initiative, Ukraine sent 170,000 tonnes of its grain to Ethiopia, Somalia and Kenya.
