We unite EU states at cost of thousands of deceased – Zelensky to European Parliament

1 min read

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine united the countries of the European Union at the cost of thousands of its dead as a result of the Russian invasion.

Addressing the representatives of the European Parliament, Zelensky said he could not say "good morning, afternoon or evening, since for many citizens of Ukraine they may be the last."

"I'm talking now about the citizens of Ukraine who are defending the country at the cost of their lives, defending unity, freedom. I am very glad that what I just saw and heard here [support and applause for Ukraine], this mood is so unifying. I am glad that we have united all of you today, the EU countries, but I do not know that this will happen at such a price. And this is a tragedy for me and every Ukrainian, for the state. Such a high price, very high. Thousands of killed people, two revolutions, one war and five days of a full-scale invasion by Russia," Zelensky said during a video broadcast at an extraordinary plenary session of the European Parliament dedicated to the Russian war against Ukraine.
