Tymoshenko discusses escalation of Russia's war against Ukraine with Volker, calls for more sanctions
Batkivschyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko has met with U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations Kurt Volker during her trip to the United States. The sides discussed the situation in Ukraine, first of all, the escalation of Russia's war against Ukraine and the latest events in the Kerch area strait.
"Kurt Volker stressed the need for the return of captured sailors and warships to Ukraine. For her part, Tymoshenko thanked the United States for the help and support. She called for tougher sanctions against the aggressor country and assistance to Ukraine's Naval Forces," her party's press service said on Wednesday morning.
Volker thanked Tymoshenko for a clear position on the need to continue Ukraine's integration into NATO and the EU. He stressed that the United States will continue to support the open door policy of NATO for the Ukrainian state.
"In addition, the parties substantively discussed Tymoshenko's proposals for new Constitution, the New Economic Course and proposals for new steps to end the war and establish peace," her press service said.
