Parubiy hopes Parliament will simplify removal of immunity and make amendments to Constitution
Ukrainian Parliament Speaker Andriy Parubiy hopes that parliament will be able to develop and approve changes to the rules on the simplified procedure of parliamentary immunity removal and does not exclude that these changes will be introduced into the Constitution of Ukraine.
"These changes are being prepared, but if we had removed the immunity of deputies earlier, at least as well as it was done with judges, at least limited their immunity ... If we see that there are 300 votes in order to make these Constitution changes, we will suggest to amend the regulation, including simplification of procedures for lifting the parliamentary immunity," Parubiy said during a press conference in Kyiv on Monday.
Verkhovna Rada Chairman recalled the parliament is currently working on the issue of a simplified procedure for the withdrawal of parliamentary immunity.
As reported, Parubiy closed the fourth parliament session of the eighth convocation on July 15 and announced that the next session will open on September 6. At the same time, he expressed confidence that, if necessary, 150 signatures of MPs will be connected to hold an extraordinary session.
