In May-June 2015, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are conducting a territorial-defense command post exercise (CPX) at the president's behest, the Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff said.

"The plan during the practical phase involves the participation of command staffs and units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, other military formations and law enforcement bodies, as well as regional and Kyiv city state administrations in executing territorial defense missions," reads a statement posted on the official site of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry on Friday.

The exercise will be held in 18 Ukrainian regions, the General Staff said. The exercise will involve field drills of conscripts from small-arms battalions, defense detachments and security companies of army recruitment centers, and practicing the sequence of their deployment within the areas where they are being formed.

"It should be noted that after the drills all conscripts will return to their places of residence. Subsequently we are planning to get them involved in periodical drills for honing their military skills," the statement reads.
