UAH 11.3 bln received to NBU's account to support Armed Forces of Ukraine

From February 24 to March 11, Ukrainians and foreigners transferred UAH 11.3 billion in equivalent to a special account opened by the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), including the equivalent of UAH 3.3 billion in foreign currency from abroad.

The money came from the United States, Great Britain, Poland, Germany, Sweden, Finland, the Czech Republic, China, France and Canada, the NBU reported on its website on Friday.

According to the regulator, the balance on the special account is UAH 1.14 billion.

The NBU transferred UAH 950 million to the needs of the National Guard, UAH 1.65 billion to the National Police, UAH 7.17 billion to the needs of the Ministry of Defense, and UAH 420 million to the needs of the State Border Guard Service.

In addition, the account of the Ministry of Social Policy, which the NBU opened on March 1 for humanitarian purposes, received a total of UAH 194 million in equivalent, including UAH 77 million received from abroad in foreign currency.

As reported, the National Bank opened a special multi-currency account UA843000010000000047330992708 to raise funds for the needs of the army in connection with the introduction of martial law in Ukraine, the armed aggression of the Russian Federation and the danger to the state independence of Ukraine, its territorial integrity.

The National Bank clarifies that this is a multi-currency account created both for transferring funds from international partners and donors in foreign currency ($, EUR, British pounds), and from Ukrainian businesses and citizens in the national currency.
