Some parliamentarians have registered a draft resolution on a Verkhovna Rada's address to the United States Congress to speed up granting a US military ally status for Ukraine.

The relative draft resolution No. 1298, authored by First Rada Deputy Chairman Andriy Parubiy (People's Front), MPs Serhiy Pashynsky (People's Front) and Ivan Vinnyk (Bloc of Petro Poroshenko) was registered on the parliament's Web site on Monday.

The text of the document hasn't been published so far.

Meanwhile, the People's Front in an explanatory note to the document said that there is a real threat that the military actions in Ukraine may de-escalate and a danger of possible large-scale military intervention of the Russian Federation.

"Russia continues shelling Ukraine's territory, supplying weapon, military equipment and ammunition for illegal armed formations. Russia military units still deployed on the Ukraine territory. Moreover, new Russian military units are built up near Ukrainian-Russian border," the document said.

The MPs also reminded that the United States is one of the state-guarantors of Ukraine's sovereignty under the Budapest memorandum.
