US Under Secretary of State: today Ukraine, US could realize several projects in defense area
Ukraine and the United States are to stir up cooperation in the defense and technical area, and some projects could be realized now, Rose Gottemoeller, the U.S. Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security, said at a meeting with Valeriy Chaly, the deputy head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine.
The press service of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine reported late on Friday, December 5, the U.S. under secretary of state pointed at the importance of developing cooperation between Ukraine and the United States in the defense and industrial area. She said that some promising projects could be realized now.
Chaly said that Ukraine is trying to strengthen its defense potential, in particular, via the implementation of reforms in the security and defense sector and the improvement of standards in Armed Forces.
The parties discussed the situation in Donbas, adding that actions of Russia are undermining the whole international security system.
Chaly said that today the new effective model for providing security in Ukraine should be designed, as it is important both for security of Europe and the whole world.
Cooperation in nonproliferation, export control and nuclear safety areas were also discussed.
