Weather Center: Flooding continuing only in Dnipro and Desna
Director of the Ukrainian Weather Center Mykola Kulbida has said that water levels in all the rivers of the country, apart from the Dnipro and Desna, are falling.
"The floods are continuing only in the Dnipro and Desna. Water levels on other rivers are steadily declining," he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Monday.
He said that water levels were falling in the rivers of the Polissia region and in the tributaries of the Prypiat River, while in the Volyn region water levels in rivers still remain close to dangerous, which will last for four or five more days.
He said that maximum water levels in the Dnipro were recorded on May 7 when they reached 657 cm.
"Now the water levels are at around 636 cm, and since the arrival and discharge of water through the dam of the Kyiv hydroelectric power plant is almost the same, this level will be the same for a long time," he said
Kulbida also said the flooding of some villages in Chernihiv region was ongoing due to continued flooding in the Desna. He said that water levels in the Desna would be growing for ten more days.
