Direct financing of brigades in 2025 to be no less than in current year – Shmyhal

Direct financing of brigades in 2025 will be no less than in 2024, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said.

"This week, the president instructed the government to increase direct funding for brigades for additional drone purchases. This order will be fulfilled today. The Ministry of Defense allocates an additional UAH 1.1 billion for the purchase of drones. These are funds that will go directly to the brigades so that they can quickly cover the most important needs," Shmyhal said at a government meeting on Friday.

The Prime Minister noted that in general, this month the Ministry of Defense will directly transfer UAH 4.3 billion to military brigades, and for 11 months such direct financing amounted to UAH 27.2 billion.

In particular, of these funds, drones were purchased for UAH 8.8 billion, UAH 3.9 billion was spent on the purchase of other weapons and equipment, UAH 2.1 billion on the purchase of cars, UAH 1.5 billion on electronic security equipment.

"As for the direct financing of the brigades, the government has decided that next year it will be no less than this year. This is especially important for the rapid purchase of drones, of which we plan to produce more than 1.5 million this year," Shmyhal said.

In addition, the prime minister noted that in 10 months of 2024, the government allocated UAH 229 billion for the purchase of military equipment, weapons, ammunition, defense products, personal protective equipment, food for the security and defense forces. Another UAH 226 billion in the first 10 months of the year was allocated for the purchase of goods to meet the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
