Umerov: Number of UAV crews 7 times up over past year, ministry seeks to ensure uninterrupted deliveries

Defense Minister of Ukraine Rustem Umerov has said he held a working meeting on drones with representatives of the Armed Forces, the State Service of Special Communications, and the Ministry of Defense.

The participants of the meeting conducted a detailed analysis of data for each military unit: the number of drones currently in use, those in storage, and those lost. Based on these assessments, the Defense Ministry identifies the needs of military units and coordinates with the State Service of Special Communications, which oversees contracting and delivery of drones to the army.

"In 2024, a significant number of drones – bombers, reconnaissance, FPV, and other types of UAVs – have already been delivered to the military. This work continues uninterrupted, even amid changes in the market. During the meeting, plans for December and the first quarter of 2025 were also discussed, particularly the supply of 'night' drones and new DeepStrike models capable of hitting targets deep behind enemy lines. Nearly 30,000 of these drones have already been contracted," Umerov said on Facebook.

According to him, "thanks to systematic efforts, the number of UAV crews in the military has increased sevenfold over the past year."

The minister emphasized that equipping brigades with drones is a priority, and the Ministry of Defense team is making every effort to ensure these deliveries remain uninterrupted.
