Russian aggression against Ukraine global, we call on partners to unite around Peace Formula – MFA statement

Russian aggression against Ukraine is a global threat that destabilizes Europe, Southeast Asia and the Middle East, according to a statement by the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry on the thousandth day since the start of the full-scale military invasion of Russia in Ukraine, published on Tuesday.

"We call on international partners to unite around the implementation of the Peace Formula, which is the only comprehensive vision for ending the war and establishing a comprehensive, just and sustainable peace. We need peace through strength, not appeasement," the statement says.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry notes that the Russian Federation is not demonstrating its readiness to end the war. At the same time, it is strengthening cooperation with Iran and the DPRK. "Tehran provides drones and other support to the Russian Federation, while the DPRK has effectively entered the war on Russia's side," the ministry said.

The Foreign Ministry thanked its partners for all defense, financial, economic and humanitarian assistance provided and called for continued and increased support. "We call on partners to increase assistance to Ukraine, in particular, to strengthen the air shield to protect critical energy facilities; to condemn and investigate Russia's crimes against Ukrainian civilians; with the help of which Russia is trying to whitewash its war crimes," the statement said.

It is noted that aggression of the Russian Federation has affected not only Ukraine: the ongoing nuclear blackmail of the Russian Federation, the seizure of the Zaporizhia NPP and attacks on critical infrastructure facilities on which the safe operation of Ukrainian NPPs depends, pose a threat to the entire world. The department also notes that a thousand days of Russian invasion of Ukraine have led to an exacerbation of the food crisis around the world, while Ukraine remains one of the key guarantors of global food security.

"Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine has demonstrated the need for democratic states to unite their efforts to counter a wide range of hybrid tactics by the Russian Federation. Russia's daily terror proves that the current pressure on the aggressor country is not enough. Ukraine needs the ability to strike a military target throughout the territory of the Russian Federation. Russia understands only force," the Foreign Ministry points out.

In addition, it notes the importance of further strengthening sanctions pressure, in particular on key sectors of the Russian economy, "in order to deprive the Russian Federation of the capabilities and resources necessary for production of weapons and military equipment used to continue the war."

The Foreign Ministry called on member states of the Rome Statute to adhere to their obligation to cooperate with the International Criminal Court "and the need to ensure the arrest of war criminal Vladimir Putin and his henchmen, for whom the ICC has issued arrest warrants."

"Ukraine will never submit to the occupiers, and the Russian military will be punished for violating international law," the Foreign Ministry emphasized.
