USA joins investigation into F-16 crash – Air Force Commander Oleschuk
Ukrainian military experts and experts from the United States are already working together to find out the causes of the plane crash involving the F-16 fighter jet piloted by Oleksiy Mes on August 26, Commander of the Ukrainian Air Force, Lieutenant General Mykola Oleschuk has said on Friday.
"We are determining the causes of the air crash. No one hid anything and no one is hiding anything! All senior management immediately received a report on the crash. Our partners from the United States, who are already taking part in the investigation of the causes, also received a preliminary report," he said on the Telegram channel.
Oleschuk emphasized that Ukraine lost a trained pilot and an F-16 on the day of the largest shelling, "but we have not lost our humanity and faith in victory."
The Air Force Commander assured that a detailed analysis is already being conducted and an investigation is underway.
"We must thoroughly investigate what happened, what the circumstances were, whose responsibility it was. And this will be done," he said, noting that information about such incidents cannot be immediately released to the public and cannot be detailed for the media.
"There is a war in the country," he emphasized.
It was previously reported that the Ukrainian Defense Ministry had created a special commission to determine the causes of the F-16 crash on August 26.
