Zelenskyy: Foreign military could train Ukrainians, participate in joint production, repair of equipment

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that French President Emmanuel Macron's proposal to send foreign forces to Ukraine only means using them for training the Ukrainian military.

According to Zelenskyy, when Ukrainian forces trained abroad, they had to "adapt to Ukraine and continue training in Ukraine. And this process was twice as long from the time someone was sent for training to actually being able to use him on the battlefield."

"Therefore, in the proposal to reduce this time to carry out this training mission directly in Ukraine, adapting all this to the state of war, I believe that there is nothing wrong with that. I do not think that this would mean that the French army should come to Ukraine. We are only talking about training processes. People, training inspectors, etc. And this is normal," Zelenskyy said in an interview with BFMTV and Le Monde published on Monday.

In addition, he noted, Western equipment could undergo repairs in Ukraine. "For example, there was an incident with the machine in question, and these machines were sent back to Europe to different countries, and it was repaired not in Ukraine, but abroad. And this again would be a long process. So why not think about whether the technical staff can come to Ukraine," Zelenskyy said.

"Therefore, the proposals that were made to send personnel to joint production and training, I don't see anything wrong with that," the president said.
