State Service for Special Communications to block Russian broadcasting in border areas
The State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine will block the broadcast of Russian television and radio channels in border areas. For these purposes, the government allocated UAH 152 million from the state budget reserve fund.
"On March 5, 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers allocated UAH 152 million from the state budget reserve fund to the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine to build a system for blocking the broadcast of programs of enemy television and radio channels in border areas," the press service of the State Special Communications Service said in a statement on Thursday.
The system will operate in nine regions: Volyn, Rivne, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Vinnytsia and Odesa.
"The implementation of the project will make it possible to oust the "Russian world" from Ukraine's information space. The influence of Russian propaganda on the Ukrainian population will be reduced, and the level of information security of Ukraine will increase," the State Committee for Special Communications said.
Government Order No. 193-r dated March 5 "On the allocation of funds from the state budget reserve fund" will help implement the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) dated March 18, 2022 "On neutralizing threats to the information security of the state."
One of the tasks of the NSDC solution is to ensure the sustainable functioning of digital broadcasting facilities and uninterrupted broadcasting of television channels in the multiplexes MX-1, MX-2, MX-3, and MX-5.
