GUR: Caesar Kunikov destroyed by Magura naval attack drones

The large landing ship Caesar Kunikov was destroyed by Magura V5 naval attack drones off the coast of the temporarily occupied Crimea near Alupka, the Main Intelligence Agency (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reports.

"On February 14, 2024, the Main Intelligence Agency, in cooperation with all components of the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine, destroyed the large landing ship Caesar Kunikov of the Black Sea fleet of the aggressor state of Russia," the Ministry of Defense said on the Telegram channel on Wednesday morning.

"The enemy ship was attacked by Magura V5 naval attack drones off the coast of the temporarily occupied Crimea near the town of Alupka. As a result, the Caesar Kunikov received critical holes on the port side and began to sink. It is symbolic that the Russian officer, whose name the ship was named after, was killed exactly 101 years ago," the message says.

As reported, the successful mission was carried out by special forces of the Group 13 of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. "The implementation of the special operation became possible with the support of the United24 platform," the GUR noted.

GUR emphasizes that "the large landing ship Caesar Kunikov of Project 775 is one of the newest Russian vessels. It could accommodate 87 crew members on board. It was used by terrorist Moscow during the wars against Georgia, Syria and Ukraine."

"The search and rescue operation of the occupiers was not successful," the GUR concludes.
