Tsutskiridze: Almost 10,000 civilians die from Russian military aggression, almost 7,000 missing
The National Police of Ukraine documented the death of 9,700 civilians of Ukraine as a result of the full–scale aggression of the Russian Federation, almost 7,000 civilians are missing, damage from the loss of housing and property of Ukrainians exceeds UAH 40 billion, said First Deputy Head of the National Police of Ukraine Maksym Tsutskiridze, who is also the Head of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police.
"The police themselves documented the death of 9,700 Ukrainians, 11,000 more were injured, almost 7,000 are missing. These are all civilians," said the head of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police in an exclusive interview with the Interfax-Ukraine agency.
According to him, 18,000 children were among the injured, 522 died.
"According to our proceedings, the occupiers deported 14,000 Ukrainian children to the Russian Federation and Belarus," Tsutskiridze noted.
Speaking about the victims, he drew attention to the fact that it is only about the territory that is not occupied by the enemy. "I am even afraid to imagine what is happening in the occupation. We do not know the whole truth – it will be necessary to collect testimony and evidence bit by bit in the future. The enemy simply leveled houses in Mariupol to the ground, and it is unknown whether people remained there. Ukrainians died not only from shells, but also from soot and suffocation," he added.
Also, the head of the Main Investigation Department of National Police reported damage and destruction by the enemy of 3,700 educational institutions, 1,600 hospitals, almost 9,000 critical infrastructure facilities, 185,000 residential buildings.
"In the property aspect, both the citizens, who lost their homes, and our state suffered. As for the direct losses that we have established based on the results of examinations, Ukrainians have lost their homes and property for more than UAH 40 billion! And I'm talking only about those industries that are being investigated by the police and for which there are already economic calculations," said the head of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police.
Tsutskiridze noted that the police properly record all war crimes of the Russian Federation and expressed confidence that in the future there will definitely be reparations from the occupiers.
