The National Cyber Security Coordination Center under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) and the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine have signed a cooperation agreement with the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) aimed at the development of opportunities, sharing the best practices, and raising awareness in this field, according to the press service of the NSDC.

"This is a historic day for our state, and, of course, an important step towards Ukraine's accession to the European Union. Cooperation with the European Cybersecurity Agency opens up new opportunities to strengthen cooperation in the field of cybersecurity and exchange best practices with EU countries. What is especially important now, when Ukraine is at the forefront of the global cyber war that the Russian Federation is waging against us. Joining efforts will strengthen the European cybersecurity system, and our state will participate in the formation of strategic approaches and the development of new policies in the field of cybersecurity and cyber defense at the international level," NSDC Secretary Oleksiy Danilov said.

The agreement is broad in nature and includes both short-term structured cooperation measures and paves the way for long-term coordination of cybersecurity policies and approaches to its implementation. Collaboration will focus on awareness-raising and capacity development to strengthen cyber resilience, sharing best practices to ensure harmonization of legislation and implementation, and sharing knowledge and information to improve overall situational awareness, including more systematic sharing of experiences and information on the cybersecurity threat landscape for increasing general awareness of the situation among stakeholders.

"The widespread use of cyberattacks in Russia's war of aggression has been met with fierce and sustained defense by our Ukrainian partners, which has also significantly increased our own level of awareness and preparation within the EU. We look forward to the implementation of this Agreement – ENISA's first working arrangement with a partner from outside the EU – in an effort to improve the overall level of cybersecurity in Europe and as a contribution to further EU support for Ukraine," ENISA Executive Director Juhan Lepassaar said.
