Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko initiates the creation on the platform of the Association of Ukrainian Cities (AUC) of the Coordinating Council of city and village mayors with the General Staff and the Defense Ministry for effective assistance to army communities. Klitschko announced this at the beginning of the city council's extraordinary session, the mayor's press service said.

"With regard to assistance to the army, I want to come up with the following initiative. Firstly, parliament should legally regulate the issue of financing the needs of the military by cities. So, we can allocate funds to units that are registered not only in our community. We must also understand the real needs, what exactly needs to be purchased (and not in general – drones. Which ones, to whom, exactly, in what quantity?). In addition, drones are not a panacea," Klitschko said.

In order to ensure systematic work to meet the needs of the army, Klitschko proposed the creation of a Coordinating Council, which would include representatives of the General Staff and the Defense Ministry.

"Create a Coordinating Council on the Association of Cities' platform, which unites communities. So that the efforts of local governments are coordinated and as effective as possible. Public control over this can be carried out by a public council, recently created under the Defense Ministry, so that the process is open and understandable to society," Klitschko said.
