All 35 Shahed-136/131 drones, with which the enemy attacked Kyiv region at night, were shot down by the air defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. A part of the missiles launched in Odesa region was also shot down, the Air Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) said.

"On the night of May 8, 2023, the enemy attacked Kyiv region with Iranian-made shock drones Shahed-136/131. Some 35 strike UAVs were used, which attacked from the northern direction – the Sescha airfield (Bryansk region). All 35 Shahed-136/131s were destroyed by the forces and means of air defense of the Air Command 'Center' of the Air Force, in cooperation with the components of the Defense Forces of Ukraine," the command said.

In the Air Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, they noted the danger of being outside the shelter during the operation of air defense.

"Even a 100% result of defeating air targets does not guarantee a safe stay where air defense works. Fragments of anti-aircraft missiles and affected UAVs will definitely return to the ground. Therefore, take care of yourself and your loved ones," the Ukrainian military said.

It is also reported that at about midnight, Russian invaders attacked Odesa region using Tu-22m3 long-range bombers. A total of eight launches were carried out from the area of Cape Tarkhankut (temporarily occupied Crimea).

"Some of the missiles did not reach their targets. The local military administration will report on the consequences of the hits," the AFU said.
