Chairman of Bundestag Bas discusses strategic cooperation between Ukraine and Germany with PM Shmyhal

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal on Sunday held a meeting with President of the German Bundestag Bärbel Bas, who was visiting Kyiv, during which they discussed the strategic directions of cooperation between Ukraine and Germany.

"We discussed strategically important areas of cooperation: weapons, sanctions, finances, and Ukraine's European perspective. Thanked the Bundestag for its decision to provide heavy weapons to Ukraine. This will help our defenders defend Ukrainian and European borders. After all, today's war is not only in Ukraine. By hybrid means, Russia is also waging war in Europe. Thank you for your willingness to speed up the abandonment of Russian oil and gas," Shmyhal wrote on Telegram.

During the meeting, the head of the Ukrainian government also called on Germany and German companies to join in the reconstruction of Ukraine. "We do not just want to rebuild what has been destroyed. We want to change our country, implement all reforms and be one of the most attractive countries for living on the European continent," stressed Shmyhal.

He added that during the conversation, Bas assured that Germany stands firmly on the side of Ukraine and supports Ukraine's accession to the EU with all its might.
