Persons injured as result of unknown substance spraying by Russian invaders in Mariupol in satisfactory condition - Azov

Military and civilians who were injured during the spraying of an unknown poisonous substance by Russian invaders in besieged Mariupol the night before, are currently in a satisfactory condition, the Azov regiment reports.

"The injured as a result of the spread of a poisonous substance of unknown origin by the enemy in the city of Mariupol are in a relatively satisfactory condition. The contact of civilians with the substance was minimal, because the epicenter of the lesion was at a certain distance from the location of the people. The military personnel were somewhat closer," the report, published in the telegram, says.

It says that now it is impossible to fully examine the scene of events, due to enemy fire, since the Russians continue to carry out the tactics of hiding their own crimes.

The regiment also releases a video of a Ukrainian soldier in moderate condition. The other two are under constant medical supervision.

"Among the injured civilians, an elderly woman is in the worst condition. The main symptoms of the victims are facial flushing, increased blood pressure, dryness and heartburn in the oropharynx, mucous membranes of the eyes," Azov says.

They add that according to the available information, it is known that the enemy used poisonous substances or potent poisonous substances with a predominantly asphyxiating effect.

"However, due to being in a complete blockade, its toxicological analysis is impossible. At the same time, the main task is to monitor the condition of the personnel and the possible consequences of poisoning," the regiment said.

As reported, on the evening of April 11, the Azov Regiment stated that Russian occupying troops dropped a poisonous substance of unknown origin from an unmanned aerial vehicle on Ukrainian military and civilians in Mariupol.

The regiment also noted that the victims had respiratory failure, vestibulo-atactic syndrome. The consequences of using an unknown substance are being clarified.

Azov leader Andriy Biletsky reported three victims. "A few hours ago, the Russians hit Mariupol with chemical weapons, the Azovstal plant - the fortress of Ukrainian fighters, Azov soldiers. If we talk about the practical side of the blow, it is small. Three people have clear signs of chemical poisoning, but without catastrophic consequences," he said in a video message on Tuesday night.

Later, British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss said the country was working with partners to verify details about a possible use of chemical weapons in Mariupol.

Deputy Head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Anna Maliar also said that information about the possible use of chemical weapons by the invaders in Mariupol is being checked by the Ukrainian authorities.
