G7 calls for urgent humanitarian assistance to Ukraine

The G7 countries consider it necessary to increase humanitarian assistance to Ukraine and remind that a number of states depend on food supplies from this country, the group said in a statement following the talks of the G7 foreign ministers.

The document notes that humanitarian efforts are essential for Ukraine, and the situation around this country has massive consequences for food security and prices in many countries that depend on the supply of the Ukrainian agricultural sector.

The ministers also reaffirmed the importance of increasing international assistance to countries that border Ukraine and are facing an unprecedented flow of refugees from Ukraine. In this regard, the ministers made special mention of Moldova, which hosts the most refugees on a per capita basis. The G7 countries also agreed to discuss issues of assistance to Moldova within the framework of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.

The ministers also welcomed the decision of the International Court of Justice on the need for Russia to stop the invasion of Ukraine and called on Moscow to act in accordance with the interim measures that need to be taken in this case.
