The Parliament (Državni zbor) of Slovenia on March 9, at an extraordinary session, adopted a Declaration on the current situation in Ukraine condemning Russia's actions and supporting Ukraine's accession to the EU until 2030.

"Parliament of Slovenia passed a resolution today, condemning Russian invasion, strongly supporting EU membership for Ukraine," Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša said on Twitter.

According to the Slovenian publication Demokracija, 67 out of 74 MPs present backed the declaration, no one voted against.

In the statement, the parliament condemns Russia's aggression against Ukraine as a "gross violation of international law" and Russia's recognition of the so-called "L/DPR."

Slovenian parliamentarians also supported Ukraine's European perspective and its bid for EU membership, as well as the adoption of a clear plan to guarantee membership until 2030, subject to conditions being met.

The Parliament called on the Slovenian government to continue providing humanitarian assistance to Ukraine and to support the activities of the international community in conducting negotiations between the Ukrainian and Russian sides.

At the beginning of the extraordinary meeting, which was also attended by Ambassador of Ukraine Mykhailo Brodovych, MPs honored the memory of the victims of Russian aggression against Ukraine with a minute of silence.
