Ukrenergo announces complete blackout of Chornobyl NPP due to actions of invaders

The Chornobyl nuclear power plant (NPP) has been completely disconnected from the power grid due to the actions of the Russian invaders, the system operator NPC Ukrenergo has said.

"Because of military actions of Russian occupiers the nuclear power plant in Chornobyl was fully disconnected from the power grid. The nuclear station has no power supply. The military actions are in progress, so there is no possibility to restore the lines," Ukrenergo said in a statement.

As reported, the military of the Russian Federation seized the territory of the Chornobyl exclusion zone.

Earlier, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) stated that remote data transmission from the safeguards control systems installed at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant has been lost. "At the moment, no one understands what is happening in Chornobyl and what threatens the region. An extremely dangerous situation," the IAEA said.
