Georgian presidential administration chief Zhvania quits

1 min read

The head of the Georgian presidential administration, Lasha Zhvania, on Friday announced his decision to step down.

He tendered his resignation back in March and will formally quit from May 1, Zhvania wrote on Facebook.

Zhvania intends to continue working for the patriarchy, in particular devoting his whole time as head of a charitable foundation of the Georgian patriarch, he said.

"For me, it does not matter where I serve my country, but it is better where I have not yet fully realized myself," Zhvania said, while thanking the president for placing big trust in him.

He did not mention his possible successor.

The former ambassador to Israel and Cyprus had previously led the patriarch's charity.
