NATO Committee on civil security dimension adopts amendment submitted by Ukrainian side, condemns construction of Kerch bridge – MP Friz

In a resolution at the 64th session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, which is taking place in Canada, the Ukrainian delegation introduced and took into account an amendment to further strengthen NATO deterrence forces in the east and a new paragraph condemning the construction of the Kerch bridge, head of the parliamentary delegation of Ukraine to the NATO PA Iryna Friz (Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction) has said.

"At the NATO Defense and Security Committee (NATO Parliamentary Assembly/Assemblée parlementaire de l'OTAN), Andriy Levus and Yuriy Bereza presented and defended our delegation's amendment to the resolution "Reinforcing deterrence on NATO's eastern flank" to ensure sustainability and readiness to strengthen NATO's future presence in the Baltic States, Poland and the Black Sea," she wrote on her Facebook page on Sunday evening.

Friz noted that the resolution states on Crimea: allocate the necessary resources to weaken the Russian A2/AD systems, which are located in the Baltic countries in Kaliningrad and the Black Sea region in Crimea, through such means as acquiring advanced fighter jets obstruction systems and high precision missile systems."

In addition, members of the Alliance Committee unanimously condemned the construction of the Kerch bridge.

"Condemning the illegal construction of the Kerch bridge by Russia, as well as Russia's policy regarding the selective denial of access and the unreasonable delay of Ukrainian and international courts in the Sea of Azov, we are deeply concerned about the new threats to security, the economy and the environment in the region," says a paragraph suggested by the Ukrainian delegation.
