Zelenskyy: Ukraine's accession to NATO is choice of the Alliance members
The agreement to end the war in Ukraine is an agreement between the United States, Ukraine, Europe and the Russian Federation, but Ukraine's accession to NATO is a choice of the Alliance's member states, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said.
"This is an agreement between the parties: America, Ukraine, Europe and Russia. In our opinion, this is the choice of NATO members - to have Ukraine or not. And our choice has been made," Zelenskyy said during a meeting with journalists on Tuesday.
According to the president, Ukraine is not going to give up its NATO membership, which was in the 28-point plan. He added that Ukraine has found the appropriate arguments. They want to negotiate separately - NATO and Russia about the future. And I think that in these separate agreements they will raise the issue of Ukraine's membership in NATO. But still, this is someone's agreement with someone, not ours. And I think that this is very important for the future of Ukraine," Zelenskyy said.
