Chubarov slams joint Ukraine-Russia fishing commission working in Kyiv, calls on SBU to expel head of Russian delegation
Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People and Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine deputy (Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction) Refat Chubarov at a meeting in Kyiv of the Ukrainian-Russian commission on fisheries in the Sea of Azov has declared the inadmissibility of such negotiations. He also demanded Ukraine's SBU Security Service immediately expel the head of the Russian delegation from Ukraine because he illegally visited Crimea, which is temporarily occupied by Russia.
"Refat Chubarov! At the talks with the Russian Federation on the distribution of fish quotas in the Sea of Azov, I made a statement about the need to immediately expel the head of the delegation of the Russian Federation who was in the occupied Crimea ... demanding that the representative of the SBU, who is in the delegation of Ukraine, immediately take the measures," Andriy Klymenko, head of the NGO Maidan of Foreign Affairs said on Wednesday morning.
Verkhovna Rada deputy (People's Front Party faction) Serhiy Vysotsky also attended the meeting. "The commission meeting has been disrupted," he said.
Chubarov earlier said on Facebook that the Ukrainian side could not hold talks with the Russian delegation and called on fellow deputies to attend the meeting. He said it was absurd to sit down at the negotiating table with Russian citizens who visit Crimea and dispose of criminally seized property on the peninsula.
